Amy DeWitt McArdle was born and raised in the small town of Estill, South Carolina. Amy’s father served in the Navy and also in the Army. Growing up in a military family, Amy developed a strong work ethic and sense of discipline. Her mother was a teacher and a librarian and that is where Amy got her desire for education and knowledge. She also has an adventurous younger brother who is an international commercial diver. She is very close with all of them.
Amy obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina. While in college, she was a member of multiple organizations such as Student Government and her sorority, Sigma Alpha Omega. In both of these organizations, she was very involved in volunteering for different charities. She then attended the Charleston School of Law. Her dedication to service and helping others continued and she graduated with over 100 hours of pro bono hours completed.
Amy has practiced in a variety of areas including family law, property law, and probate law by helping low-income people receive legal assistance for free. However, her passion for helping veterans just seemed to grow and grow. On our team at Disabled Vets she feels so lucky to be able to help people just like her father and finds every day to be so rewarding.
In her spare time, Amy loves spending time with her yellow lab, Sumter. She and her husband, John, love living in Charleston and discovering all of the history within the area. They also love their Carolina gamecocks and watching them play!
